Are you looking to make a positive impact on a young person's life? The YMCA mentorship programs offer a wonderful chance to do just that! Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect and the requirements to become a mentor:
Community-Based Mentor Program:
Who You'll Mentor: Youths aged 6-14 years.
Activities: Engage in enjoyable community activities.
Schedule: Meet once a week for 2-3 hours.
Commitment: A minimum of 9 months.
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older.
Access to a car with insurance.
Pass a background check.
Complete Mentor Training.
Keep up monthly communication with staff.
Be willing to share in the cost of outings.
School-Based Mentor Program:
Who You'll Mentor: Students aged 5-16 years.
Activities: Join mentees for lunch or other school activities.
Schedule: Meet once a week for 1 hour during lunchtime.
Commitment: Throughout the academic year.
Pen Pal Option: Exchange letters monthly (limited availability).
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older.
Pass a background check.
Complete Mentor Training.
Maintain monthly communication with staff.
